There's representation and there's representalization. I just made that up, but having heard that some Pacific Northwest lesbians have been hate-reading Stray City, I feel like I need to consider the idea that the author overexposes her people. For me as non-member of the Lesbian Mafia who perhaps over-identifies with the queer communities I'm on the periphery of (lots of my best friends are, okay?), I enjoyed this intimate portrait of 1990s lesbian PDX.
The characters felt realistic, I related to their struggles, and the word "zines" appeared multiple times.
